The development of degradation failure diagnostic method of solar cell by electroluminescence measurement in outdoor

Electroluminescence(EL) measurement is inspection technology which can specify the location of degradation failure. EL is luminous phenomenon which we can observe when injecting the current to solar cell. Nevertheless degradation failure diagnostic method in outdoor is required for prevention of power decline of solar power system , there is no still established techniques.@ Realization of easy measurement method in outdoor can contribute to efficiency of maintenance and inspection of solar cells. It is said that the measurement of EL in the outdoor is difficult because emission intensity of EL is weaker than ambient light(Daylight and Fluorescent light). In order to solve these problems, we are researching while devising approaches combined optical and electrical viewpoint and cost consciousness. At the present, we can realize new EL measurement in bright environment (brightness of indoor lightning such as fluorescent light). We will make the efforts for the purpose of cutting off ambient light to be able to make EL measurement in the outdoor which solar radiation intensity is strong.

These figures are EL image in bright and outdoor environment where the ambient light is present. We have succeeded in observing the EL image by reducing the ambient light in a bright environment (fluorescent light or scattered light, etc.). However we can't observe EL images of sufficient quality , because it is difficult to reduce the disturbance light in outdoor (sunlight, etc.).
